Who is Criticised?

Who is Criticised?

This exercise follows from the observer exercise.

  • Start by recollecting that there are, in fact, multiple “me"s - perhaps one per situation.
  • Now, see if you can recall a time, preferably recently, where you felt criticised or attacked (could something small, like not having made the bed).
  • Now, look to see, which of those “me"s is being targeted?
  • If one in particular, does the attack impact it?
  • What impact does it have on the experience that there are other “me"s present in this experience?

Note, there isn’t a specific singular expected outcome to this exercise. The point is to look, and simply notice what you, yourself, find.
