Boundaries Beneath Reactions

Boundaries Beneath Reactions

In this exercise we begin to explore boundaries. This steps into non-dual territory.

Exploring boundaries - these boundaries will follow the same patterns as reactivity. So, if we were previously pulling chocolate towards us to make ourselves feel okay, then under that was an okay/not okay boundary. That’s the duality or distinction. Even if we’re no longer reacting, we haven’t necessarily softened the boundary.

So, for the exercise:

  • Bring to mind a situation where you might previously have reacted.
  • Explore, what were you trying to fix by this reaction? What was not right that you were trying to make right?
  • Now sit with that distinction.
  • Look for it in direct, felt, experience.
  • Can you find it?
  • Does it exist in direct felt experience, or is it a “cognitive overlay” that we apply to that experience?
