Six Week Course

Six Week Course

Week 1: Perspective

Some basic psychology, drawn from neuroscience, helps us understand how we can change.

(slides)

Week 2: Noting

We explore what is happening in our experience. Here, we attempt to label experience without thinking about it. This helps us experience more directly what is happening.

(slides)

Week 3: Welcoming

Once we have learned to notice what is happening, we learn to welcome it. Perhaps counterintuitively, if we can welcome unpleasant experience, it becomes easier to handle. Being able to experience difficult emotion, can, in itself, make a difference.

(slides)

Week 4: Engaging

Once we have learned to welcome whatever is present in our experience, we can start to engage with that experience - learn to listen fully to what is there.

(slides)

Week 5: Questioning

We explore the difference between thinking and sensing, and to check the labels we apply to experience - to see whether they stand up to scrutiny.

(slides)

Week 6: Who am I anyway?

We look at some of our biggest assumptions - those around who we are, around identity. Commonly those that cause us the most pain.
